Lemon Water And Alkalinity

Healthy Living With Type 1 Diabetes Lemon Water And Alkalinity Lemon water  packs a powerful punch with some amazing benefits. It balances pH, keeps your skin clear and glowing, it kick starts your digestive system, helps with weight loss, and helps to control your coffee habit. Lemon is also a natural energizer, it hydrates, it detoxifies, and it oxygenates the body so it feels revitalized and refreshed!

Increase pH Levels:

Lemons are one of the most alkalizing foods for the body. Sure, they are acidic on their own, but inside our bodies they’re alkaline (the citric acid does not create acidity in the body once metabolized). Lemons contain both citric and ascorbic acid, weak acids easily metabolized from the body allowing the mineral content of lemons to help alkalize the blood. Disease states can occur when the body pH is acidic. Drinking lemon water regularly can help to remove overall acidity in the body, including uric acid in the joints, which is one of the primary causes of pain and inflammation.

The energy a human receives from food comes from the atoms and molecules in your food. A reaction occurs when the positive charged ions from food enter the digestive tract and interact with the negative charged enzymes. Lemon is one of the few foods that contain more negative charged ions, providing your body with more energy when it enters the digestive tract. The scent of lemon also has mood enhancing and energizing properties. The smell of lemon juice can brighten your mood and help clear your mind. Lemon can also help reduce anxiety and depression.

Lemon Water And Clear Skin:

Vitamin C and other antioxidants in lemons combat free radical damage. Free radical damage — especially as caused by UV exposure and environmental toxins — is responsible for many symptoms of aging. Antioxidant intake can help offset this damage, minimizing wrinkles. Further, lemon juice can be applied topically to scars and age spots to help reduce their appearance. Traditionally used as a liver stimulant, lemon water is also believed to help purge toxins from the blood, helping to keep skin clear of blemishes.

Benefits Of Drinking Lemon For Immune Function:

Lemons are high in antioxidant vitamin C, known for its supportive role in healthy immune function which may reduce the risk of respiratory infection. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) foundHealthy Living With Type 1 Diabetes Lemon Water And Alkalinity in lemons demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects, and is used as complementary support for asthma and other respiratory symptoms. Lemons also contain saponins, which show antimicrobial properties that may help keep cold and flu at bay. Last but not least, ascorbic acid enhances iron absorption in the body; iron plays an important role in immune function.

Lemon Water, Baking Soda And Teeth?

Professional teeth whitening treatments can cost a fortune, not to mention can be dangerous.  Also, some claim that lemon juice can help whiten teeth…I’d pump the brakes when it comes to this as well. When it comes to safely whitening your teeth, it’s best to stay away from lemon juice due to its highly acidic nature.

Baking soda and Lemon juice are not an optimal way to whiten your teeth. Although the result may seem that your teeth are whiter, you have actually eroded and abraded your teeth. Lemon juice is very acidic and will erode your teeth and break down your enamel.

I have heard that you should brush your teeth anytime after you have had lemon in your water. The acid in the lemon break down the enamel on the teeth. Instead I have made my body alkaline by drinking water with doTerra’s lemon oil. It has no acidity but it does wonders for cleansing our bodies 🙂

    • Hi Brenda, how are you!! Thanks for chiming in 😀 Yes lemon water is highly acidic, its hard to imagine something that acidic can be so healthy for us. Yes, it can hurt the enamel of the teeth based on its acidity levels. My dentist recommended that I drink through a straw to limit the exposure to the teeth. He also recommended that I once I finish I could always take some plain water swish it around in my mouth and rinse it that way if I wanted. Hopefully those are some tips you can use as well. Lemon water is so healthy for you and when it comes to alkalizing your body and very inexpensive as well. Hope all is well!! 😀
