Health Benefits Of Chlorella:

Healthy Living With Type 1 Diabetes Researching some supplements the other days, I came across a little know powerhouse call chlorella. Chlorella, a blue-green algae, is one of the most nutritionally dense green foods on the planet. While it is debatable, many experts think chlorella offers just about every nutrient required by the human body, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, nucleic acids, chlorophyll and a full spectrum of phytochemicals.

Detox And Chlorella:

These days, toxins come at us from every possible angle: food, air, water, beauty products, cleaning supplies and even clothing. It’s important to give the body what it needs to detox from all the harmful substances it encounters each day. Chlorella has an amazing ability to bind with toxins like chemicals and heavy metals, and move them swiftly out of the body. These benefits are powerful and can have a definite positive impact on

Weight Loss Benefits?

Chlorella’s unique properties may also have the ability to lower overall body fat. One 2008 Japanese study showed chlorella can reduce body fat percentages. This may be due to its ability to aid fat metabolism and improve insulin sensitivity. Plus, when we replace nutritionally empty foods with powerful superfoods like chlorella, the body tends to crave less junk food because it feels more nourished.

Chlorella And Blood Sugars:

Chlorella has been shown to help normalize blood sugars (and no, this should not replace insulin). This is especially important now that we have a nationwide epidemic of type 2 diabetes. Two of the regulators of the blood sugar handling system are the liver and the pancreas, and chlorella acts on each of those organs to balance them. The combination of the protein with the carbohydrates prevents a spike in insulin secretion and has a hand in controlling cravings. The B vitamins that chlorella contains, support the adrenal glands, which also have a hand in blood sugar control through secretions of hormones.

Alkalize With Chlorella:

There is that word again, alkalize!! As its name suggests, chlorella contains chlorophyll. InHealthy Living With Type 1 Diabetes chol1 fact, it contains more chlorophyll per gram than any other plant, making it an alkalizing machine. An alkaline state is imperative to good health so the more alkaline foods we can eat, the better. The higher the amount of chlorophyll a food contains, the m
ore alkaline it is, hence chlorella is a wonderful dietary aid for balancing pH.

When buying, look for the certified organic kind. If it is not organic, then it could have lived in contaminated waters, which means the algae are contaminated as well. It is also important that the cell wall of the chlorella is broken. Chlorella has an indigestible cell wall that needs to be ruptured/broken to allow access to its nutrients so make sure you by the broken cell type. Lastly, it is crucial that the chlorella not be pasteurized nor freeze dried or else you will lose the amazing benefits of the chlorella’s digestive enzymes.

    Where do you buy it?

    • Hey Karen, thanks for the reply! You can get them from different locations online. I get mine from a company called Aloha. They actually just changed up the ingredients though. They now add Spirulina vs chlorella and its also mixed with several other superfoods. Foods such as Wheatgrass (considered the healthiest food on earth), Himalayan pink salt, lemon, spinach and several others. I essentially add it directly to my water and love them. If your looking for Chlorella exclusively, you can try a company called VitaCost, them sell several supplements along with the king of the internet, Amazon.

Here are the ones that I use, I love them as they have a clean ingredient deck, Full serving of fruits and veggies, Low Sugar, Paleo-friendly, + Can be mixed into any drink, smoothie, or recipe, Only 35-50 calories per pouch, and nothing artificial, ever. If you want to take a look at them, here they are and they come in small packages so you can carry them on the go vs a tub, like most companies use. Feel free to let me know what you think. I recommend these as I’ve tried them and as I mentioned earlier, they have a clean ingredient list. Most supplements on the market today, you need to be careful of. Here they are if you’d like to take a look. They will also be going up on my website, so in the future you’ll be able to order directly from me 😀

Hope all is well and here’s the link http://theorganicdiabetic.org/AlohaGreens

      Take care 😀
